Biography

Anne Cooper's acting career in film, television, and theatre spans many years, with her debut role in the 1985 film "Crimewave" alongside Frances McDormand.

She honed her craft under the guidance of renowned instructors Uta Hagen, Michael Schurtleff, and Gary Austin, a member of the legendary Groundlings troupe.

Cooper's educational background includes a Bachelor's degree from Eastern Michigan University, as well as attendance at the prestigious London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) after graduation.

Throughout her career, she has had the privilege of working with iconic directors such as Paul Schrader, Kat Coiro, and Sam Raimi, and sharing the screen with a diverse range of talented actors, including Jennifer Lopez, John Bradley, Angela Lansbury, Danny DeVito, and William Hurt.

However, Cooper's journey was not without its challenges. A misdiagnosis resulted in the loss of her voice for 15 years, forcing her to take a hiatus from her career. With medical intervention, she was eventually able to regain her voice and resume her work in the entertainment industry.

Today, Cooper continues to work in theatres across the country, performing in both classical and contemporary plays. Her latest role was Marilyn in David Lindsay-Abaire's "Ripcord," and her latest film, "Marry Me" with Jennifer Lopez, was released in 2022.

In addition to her acting work, Cooper has also ventured into playwriting and directing. She has developed and directed plays in both New York City and Los Angeles, and is currently a theatre consultant to LA GOAL, a organization that provides services for adults with developmental disabilities.

Cooper is also a member of the summer theatre faculty at Interlochen Center for the Arts, where she helps to inspire and educate the next generation of performers.

As a testament to her dedication to her craft and her resilience in the face of adversity, Cooper can be heard performing new plays on the Open-Door Playhouse podcast, which has supported playwrights, actors, and directors during the pandemic.
