Anne Neyland was born in Gulfport, Mississippi, to Edwina and Robert Swayze Neyland, making her one of two siblings. Her early life was marked by her entry into a beauty pageant at the age of sixteen, which would later become a stepping stone for her successful modeling career.
As she gained recognition, Anne caught the attention of Hollywood in 1955, boasting an impressive 30 titles to her name, including "Miss Texas" and "Miss Body Beautiful". Although she made a brief appearance in the chorus line of Singin' in the Rain in 1952, it wasn't until 1957 that she received her proper introduction to the screen in the film noir Hidden Fear, directed by André De Toth.
Anne's early success led to her being signed by MGM, where she was cast as the "other girl" in Elvis Presley's most famous picture, Jailhouse Rock in 1957. Interestingly, she also briefly dated Presley during this time. However, the studio struggled to find a suitable role for her after Jailhouse Rock, resulting in her being cast in a low-budget film directed by Edward L. Cahn, Motorcycle Gang, aimed at juvenile audiences.
Anne's film career continued to dwindle, with her next notable roles being in various TV shows, including The Texan, Yancy Derringer, and Sea Hunt, before she eventually retired from acting in 1960. The beginning of the new decade saw her involved in some high-profile marital and extra-marital affairs, which garnered significant media attention. Anne gradually faded from the public eye before passing away in Camarillo, California, in April 2019 at the age of 84.
