Dr. Annie Goldson is a renowned documentary filmmaker and academic, with a career spanning over two decades. Through her boutique production company, Occasional Productions, she has produced and directed feature and broadcast documentaries, earning recognition for their exceptional craft and insight.
Over the years, her films have garnered an impressive array of accolades, with more than 50 international and domestic awards at film festivals. Moreover, her documentaries have enjoyed theatrical releases in the United States, Australia, and New Zealand, as well as being sold to prominent broadcasters such as PBS, CBC, Channel 4, ARD, Canal Plus, and HBO.
Beyond her work in documentary filmmaking, Dr. Goldson is also a respected academic, publishing her research in esteemed journals and books. Her monograph, Memory, Landscape, Dad and Me, was published by Victoria University Publications, accompanying her early film Wake.
In recognition of her contributions to the film industry, Dr. Goldson has been appointed an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM). Additionally, she holds a PhD from the University of Auckland, where she currently teaches screen production and theory.
