Antero Alli was born on November 11, 1952, in Finland, to Finnish parents who, unfortunately, separated when he was just three years old. His mother made the brave decision to migrate to Toronto, Canada, where Antero experienced an idyllic childhood, filled with joy and wonder.
As he grew older, Antero's mother made the bold move to migrate westward to Los Angeles, California, when he was just 11 years old. This significant change in his life had a profound impact on his development and shaped his future endeavors.
After completing high school at the remarkable age of 17, Antero left his hometown to explore the vibrant city of San Francisco and its surrounding Bay Area. He would go on to live in this region on and off for an impressive thirty years, allowing him to immerse himself in the local arts and cultural scene.
As an underground filmmaker, Antero's extensive background in creating experimental theatre, which dates back to 1972, has a profound influence on his films. His movies are characterized by their surrealistic and theatrical sensibilities, setting them apart from other films in the industry.
Since 1993, Antero's feature films have garnered widespread critical acclaim for their "searing social insights and depth of imagination." His films are primarily showcased on the USA west coast and are available for free viewing on popular video-sharing platforms such as Vimeo and YouTube.
Today, Antero resides in Portland, Oregon, with his wife, the talented singer and composer, Sylvi Alli. In addition to his work in film, Antero is also a published author, with seven titles to his name, and an accomplished astrologer.
