Anthony Cistaro is a classically trained actor with a career spanning various mediums, including television, film, and theater. He is best known for his comedic roles on popular shows such as Cheers, Seinfeld, and Friends.
Anthony's early career breakthrough came when he was cast as Henri, the recurring nemesis of Woody, in the final three seasons of Cheers. He went on to guest star in several other shows, including Bob, The Nanny, Charlie Lawrence, Alright Already, Wild Oats, Thanks, Ugly Betty, and Witchblade.
In addition to his comedic roles, Anthony has also appeared in dramatic parts, often playing antagonists. He has had recurring roles in Sense8 and All Day and a Night, and has appeared in shows such as Alias, Numb3rs, and Nip/Tuck.
Anthony has also had a successful theater career, with credits including "The King Stag" at the Barbican Theatre in London, and regional performances at the South Coast Repertory and the American Repertory Theatre.
Born in the San Francisco Bay Area, Anthony is the eldest of six children. His parents were both professionals, with his father being a schoolteacher and counselor, and his mother later working as an executive assistant. Anthony's siblings also worked as actors, and he began his own acting career at a young age, appearing in the film Lady of the House opposite Dyan Cannon.
Anthony trained in film and TV production at Loyola Marymount University, and later studied with the legendary Stella Adler at her West Coast academy. He earned a spot at the American Repertory Theatre Institute at Harvard University, where he worked and trained during the Robert Brustein years.
Anthony is married to author Melissa Cistaro, and the couple has returned to San Francisco to raise their family. Anthony has also worked behind the camera as an in-house media producer and director for BlackRock and Ripple. He is an avid ocean swimmer and has participated in several distance races, including multiple Alcatraz swims. Anthony speaks French and holds dual US and Italian passports.
