Antony Hamilton, a renowned dancer and model, was born in England in May 1952, but his life took a dramatic turn when he was adopted by an Australian military man and his wife, and he grew up in Adelaide, Australia. As a classically trained dancer, Hamilton's early career saw him dance with the esteemed Australian ballet, showcasing his impressive skills.
However, it was his striking good looks that led him to pursue a modeling career in Europe, where he honed his craft and studied acting simultaneously. His acting endeavors eventually took him to the United States, where he continued to build his resume.
Hamilton's breakthrough came when he was introduced in the 1984 film Samson and Delilah, which led to an offer to co-star in the TV series Cover Up (1984). This opportunity arose after the untimely death of Jon-Erik Hexum, a fellow acting school classmate of Hamilton's, who was initially cast in the role. Despite initial hesitation, Hamilton eventually accepted the part, acknowledging the tragic circumstances that led to his casting.
Around the same time, Hamilton was tested for the role of James Bond by producer Cubby Broccoli, who was considering him as a potential replacement for Pierce Brosnan. Although some reports suggest that Broccoli rejected Hamilton due to his blonde hair, others claim that Hamilton's known homosexuality would have made it challenging for him to portray the iconic character.
Hamilton continued to work in television and film until his untimely death in March 1995, due to complications related to the AIDS virus.
