Arash T. Riahi is a multifaceted creative individual, born in 1972, who has made a significant impact in the film industry. His journey began in 1982 when he moved to Austria, where he would later study film and the arts at the University of Vienna.
Following his academic pursuits, Riahi worked as a freelancer in the youth and art department of the ORF/Austrian Broadcasting Network, honing his skills and gaining valuable experience. In 1997, he co-founded the film and media production company Golden Girls Filmproduktion, which has since become a hub for his diverse body of work.
As a director, producer, script-writer, and dramatic consultant, Riahi has amassed an impressive portfolio, comprising over 100 international award-winning short and experimental films, commercials, music videos, and documentaries. Some of his notable works include 'Mississippi', 'That Has Been Bothering Me The Whole Time', 'The Souvenirs of Mr. X', 'Exile Family Movie', and the cross-media project 'Everyday Rebellion', which he collaborated on with his brother Arman T. Riahi.
Riahi's first fiction film, 'For a Moment Freedom', was Austria's candidate for the Academy Awards in 2010. Since then, he has worked as a dramatic advisor for various Creative Europe script-development programs, including Sources 2, Nipkow, Berlinale Talents, and Doc-Incubator. He has also taught at the Vienna film-academy and the Vienna Film School, and has held lectures at esteemed institutions such as the Scottish Documentary Institute, Goethe Institute Dublin, Zkm Karlsruhe, and more.
Riahi is a member of the European Filmacademie, the Austrian Directors & Producers Guild, and the ACE-Producers Network. His recent works include the documentary "Born in Evin", which he co-produced with Tondowski Film and won the Compass Perspektive award at the Berlinale 2019, as well as "Solo", a co-production with Artcam & Petit a Petit that premiered at the Cannes Filmfestival 2019. His new fiction film "Where no one knows us" is currently in post-production and is set to be released at the end of 2019.
