Aric Generette Floyd, an American actor and composer, was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, alongside his older sister, Alexis Floyd, an actress. Their parents, Mark Floyd, a lawyer and classically-trained tenor, and Lauren Generette, a youth orchestra director and classically-trained flutist, instilled in them a love for the performing arts from a young age.
Floyd's journey began at the age of five when he started training as a classical pianist. This early exposure to music soon led him to explore the world of musical theater, where he occasionally performed alongside his sister in local productions. As he grew older, Floyd transitioned away from musicals with a role in the 2008-2009 touring production of "A Raisin in the Sun."
Floyd continued to hone his craft on stage, performing in various productions before making his feature film debut in 2013 with the role of Jamal Lee in "Underdogs." This marked the beginning of his film career, as well as his debut as a film composer, contributing two original songs to the movie's soundtrack.
Since then, Floyd has appeared in several feature films, including "Doors" (2021),"Empire Waist" (2024),and "Playing with Beethoven" (2020),in which he starred as Josh Irving, a young concert pianist. His television credits include "Days of Our Lives" (NBC),"Ballers" (HBO),and "Versus" (Awesomeness).
Floyd attended Hawken School in Gates Mills, Ohio, graduating from high school in 2014. During his time at Hawken, he earned a scholarship to train at the American Shakespeare Center after being a finalist in the 2013 ESU National Shakespeare Competition at Lincoln Center.
Currently, Floyd is pursuing his acting career alongside his undergraduate education at Stanford University, where he studies physics and philosophy. He is also deeply involved with the Effective Altruism community.
