Armida Ponce-Enrile Siguion-Reyna, a renowned singer, actress, producer, and former chairperson of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB),was born on November 4, 1930.
She pursued her studies at the Philippine Women's University (PWU).
Armida's illustrious career spans multiple genres, including opera and zarzuela. She has performed lead roles in operas such as "Lucia de Lammermoor," "Rigoletto," "La Traviata," "I Pagliacci," and "The Merry Widow." She also starred in the zarzuela "Ang Mestiza."
In the latter part of her career, Armida ventured into television, hosting the celebrity show "Cooking Atbp." She released several albums, including "Aawitan Kita" Vols 1 and 2 for Villar Records, "Armida" for Dyna Records, and "Sa Lungkot at Saya...Aawitan Kita" for Viva records.
Her popular television show "Aawitan Kita" garnered numerous awards. Armida's performance in the film "Sa Pagitan ng Dalawang Langit" earned her a Best Supporting Actress award at the 1975 Bacolod Film Festival.
Armida has also produced and starred in several 16mm musicals, including "Dung-aw," "Lakambini," "Supremo," "Pagpatak ng Ulan," and "Sisa."
She co-founded her first film production outfit, Pera Films, which produced two movies: "Laruang Apoy" and "Bilanggong Birhen." Her current film outfit is Reyna Films, which she founded with her son Carlitos Siguion-Reyna, and has produced several award-winning films.
