Arthur Egeli is a multifaceted artist and filmmaker, renowned for his exceptional skills in the realm of fine art. His remarkable talent has earned him prestigious awards from the Portrait Society of America, the Oil Painters of America, and the American Impressionist society.
As a third-generation painter, Arthur's artistic lineage is deeply rooted in a long tradition of excellence. His grandfather, Bjorn Egeli (1900-1984),was a celebrated portrait painter who had the distinction of creating official portraits of Eisenhower, Nixon, and MacArthur. Arthur's parents, also accomplished portrait painters, played a significant role in shaping his artistic skills. Under their guidance, he began his artistic journey, supplementing his studies with winter and summer sessions at the esteemed Cape School of Art, where he had the privilege of learning from the renowned Henry Hensche.
Arthur's experiences in Provincetown, Massachusetts, had a profound impact on his life and art. His love for the town was so profound that it inspired his first feature film, "The Art of Passion", which won the $110,000 jury prize at the Hamptons International Film Festival. He also attended the Art Center in Pasadena, California, and the University of Maryland, where he received a creative writing scholarship.
In Pasadena, Arthur met his wife, actress Heather Hayes, with whom he would collaborate on five films to date. Following the birth of their daughter, Arthur and Heather opened Egeli Gallery in Provincetown, which soon evolved from a summer business to a thriving year-round venture. The gallery represents an impressive array of emerging contemporary artists, including John Clayton and Margaret McWethy, as well as masters from Provincetown's past, such as Charles Hawthorne, John Whorf, George Elmer Browne, and Henry Hensche.
Today, Arthur and Heather reside in Provincetown, Massachusetts, where they continue to produce art and films, while raising their two children.
