William Asa Hutchinson II, born on December 3, 1950, is a multifaceted American figure, having successfully navigated careers in law, business, and politics.

As a member of the Republican Party, Hutchinson has held various prominent positions, including U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas, appointed by President Ronald Reagan in 1982, and U.S. Representative for Arkansas's 3rd congressional district from 1996 to 2001.

He further solidified his political standing by serving as Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration, appointed by President George W. Bush in 2001, and Under Secretary for border and transportation security at the Department of Homeland Security, also appointed by Bush in 2003.

Hutchinson's gubernatorial ambitions were first thwarted in 2006, when he lost to Democratic nominee Mike Beebe, but he successfully ran for the office in 2014, defeating U.S. Representative Mike Ross.

He went on to serve two terms as the 46th governor of Arkansas, from 2015 to 2023, during which time he was reelected in 2018 with a significant majority of the vote.

In addition to his political endeavors, Hutchinson has also been involved in various organizational roles, including serving as vice chair of the National Governors Association from 2020 to 2021 and subsequently as chair from 2021 to 2022.
