Ashley Chin, a south London native, was raised by a Jamaican mother and immersed in gang culture during his youth. However, his life took a transformative turn in 2002 when he converted to Islam, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his life.
Since his conversion, Chin has adopted the stage name Muslim Belal and has been touring the country, sharing his remarkable story, "From The Streets 2 Islam", in a unique and captivating poetic style that has left audiences inspired and amazed.
As a multifaceted individual, Belal is not only a talented spoken word poet but also a successful British actor, having secured lead roles in various TV dramas and films, including ITV's "The Bill", BBC Film's "Storm Damage", ITV drama "Holby Blue", and "The Fixer". He will also be appearing in the new series of "Law & Order UK" on ITV.
In addition to his acting and poetry pursuits, Belal is dedicated to inspiring the youth, delivering thought-provoking talks and workshops at youth clubs, universities, and various events.
