Austin Tichenor is a renowned actor, playwright, and director with a diverse range of credits to his name. Since 1992, he has served as the Artistic Director of the Reduced Shakespeare Company, a position that has allowed him to co-author nine Complete (abridged) scripts, including the critically acclaimed William Shakespeare's Long Lost First Play (abridged),which premiered at the esteemed Folger Shakespeare Library in 2016.
Throughout his illustrious career, Austin has had the privilege of acting on numerous stages, including off-Broadway, in London's West End, at Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, and in venues around the world. His extensive television credits include recurring roles on popular shows such as Alias, 24, The Practice, Ally McBeal, and Felicity, as well as guest starring roles on The West Wing, Gilmore Girls, ER, and The X-Files.
In addition to his work in front of the camera, Austin has also made a name for himself as a published author. His illustrated book, Pop-Up Shakespeare, was released by Walker Books/Candlewick Press, while his irreverent reference book, Reduced Shakespeare: The Complete Guide for the Attention-Impaired (abridged),was published by Hyperion. His comic memoir, How The Bible Changed Our Lives (Mostly for the Better),is available as an e-book through Reduced Press.
When he's not busy with his various projects, Austin can be found hosting and producing the weekly Reduced Shakespeare Company Podcast, which is available on iTunes.
