Ben Sharples is a multifaceted American creative, exceling as an actor, writer, and producer in the entertainment industry. He has made a notable impact in the horror genre, starring in Takashi Shimizu's Flight 7500 (2014) alongside Ryan Kwanten and Amy Smart, and is set to appear in the highly anticipated heist movie Crime 101 (2026) alongside Chris Hemsworth, Halle Berry, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Mark Ruffalo.
In addition to his acting career, Sharples has also made a name for himself as a writer, producer, director, and star of the award-winning comedy feature film Gentlemen's Fury (2017),which earned him the Best Actor award at the Sunscreen Film Festival West. His most recent project, the thriller short Taken In (2020),won Best Thriller at the Hollywood Blood Horror Festival and is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
Born in Hollywood, California, Sharples spent his early years on the island of Kwajalein before relocating to Manhattan Beach, California, where he grew up. His fascination with filmmaking began at the age of 13, when he started making movies with his friends and an RCA camcorder. He further pursued his interest in film studies at Crossroads School in Santa Monica, California.
Sharples' passion for acting was ignited by a dare, which led him to take an acting class at the University of California, Berkeley. He enjoyed it so much that he went on to attend the American Conservatory Theater, graduating from their MFA Program.
In addition to his accomplishments in the entertainment industry, Sharples is also an accomplished tennis player. He was awarded Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player three years in a row by the Crossroads School tennis team, finishing his junior career ranked in the top twenty in Southern California. He went on to play for the U.C. Berkeley men's tennis team for four years and even coached professional tennis player Zack Fleishman at the U.S. Open in 2011.
