Ben Silverstone was born on April 9, 1979, in the affluent area of Primrose Hill, north London, to parents Anthony and Beverly Silverstone. His early life was marked by attendance at the exclusive private St Paul's School in Barnes, London.
Ben's breakthrough in the film industry came courtesy of family friend Mike Figgis, who cast him in a major role in The Browning Version (1994) as Taplow. This was followed by a minor appearance as the young Humbert Humbert in Adrian Lyne's remake of Lolita (1997).
However, it was his role as Steven Carter in Simon Shore's directing debut, Get Real (1998/I),that truly cemented his status as a rising star. Although Get Real did not achieve box office success, it has since developed a cult following, and Ben has received widespread critical acclaim for his performance, including the establishment of dedicated websites and fan bases.
Ben went on to pursue his academic interests, graduating from Cambridge University with a First (top class) degree in June 2001. He then took on the lead role in The Age Of Consent, a new play by Peter Morris, at The Edinburgh Festival.
