Benny Tjandra is a highly acclaimed and accomplished Asian American filmmaker, boasting a multifaceted career as a Director, Producer, 2nd Unit Director, Writer, Action Director, Choreographer, Director of Photography, Editor, and more. Born in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia, Tjandra's passion for filmmaking led him to move to Los Angeles at the tender age of 10 to pursue his dream of becoming a renowned filmmaker in Hollywood and beyond.
Tjandra's early start in the industry began with his work as an actor, stuntman, and fight choreographer on TV and feature films, leveraging his martial arts training and filmmaking vision. As a child, he created short films using a Pro-Consumer camera and 8MM camera, laying the groundwork for his future success.
Throughout his prolific career, Tjandra has directed numerous hit films across various genres, including "Prey of Wrath" (2024),"American Western" (2022),"Kill Plan" (2021),"Nation Fire" (2019),"Syndicate Smasher" (2017),and "Bloodline: Love Sick 2" (2018). As a producer, he has overseen more than 30 feature films, with over 10 upcoming projects in development and pre-production for 2024.
Tjandra's love for movies began in his childhood and has only grown stronger with time. He has educated himself in various aspects of filmmaking, including producing, directing, writing, editing, camera operating, location sound recording, gaffing, set designing, casting directing, stunt coordinating, and more.
In 2009, Tjandra founded his own production company, New GenerAsian Pictures, in Los Angeles, which has enabled him to connect with major studios in the USA, Indonesia, and the Philippines. He can provide a comprehensive range of services, from development to distribution, including crew, location, equipment, actors, stuntmen, and women, and all other production necessities.
