Eriberto Lopez, affectionately known as Bert by his 3rd grade teacher, was born in Laredo, Texas, but spent his entire life in San Antonio. As the middle child of a family comprising two sisters and five brothers, Bert's upbringing was filled with a sense of camaraderie and sibling rivalry. His passion for acting began in high school, where he not only performed in various productions but also directed and produced short films.
At the age of 18, Bert met Ruben Rodriguez, a fellow aspiring filmmaker, while working at a furniture store. Despite sharing the same dream, it wasn't until they were both in their 30s that they finally collaborated on their first film, which they entered into the 48-hour Film Festival. This marked the beginning of a long-standing creative partnership between Bert and Ruben, with Bert starring as the protagonist in each of their subsequent films.
In addition to his work with Ruben, Bert has also been involved in large-scale theatre dramas at his church in San Antonio, serving as both assistant producer/director and actor. These productions, which often feature casts of 30 to 60 actors, have allowed Bert to hone his skills and gain valuable experience in the industry.
