Bertie Gilbert is a 21-year-old director and writer based in London, serving as a pioneer for a new wave of young filmmakers. He was recently classified as one of the 'Five New Wes Andersons' by Dazed and was also part of the Dazed 100, a 'definitive list of creatives shaping youth culture' in 2016.

Gilbert's bleakly whimsical independent films have gained a global online following of hundreds of thousands of loyal viewers. His notable successes include the short film Blue Sushi, which was funded by Google and earned significant praise in both the digital and linear world.

In 2016, he created the short film Let it Be, which amassed almost one million views on YouTube. The following year, he created Playground, a film funded by Ron Howard's Newform Digital. In 2018, he completed his most recent short, Stomping Grounds, starring Bill Milner, which has garnered significant festival attention.

Currently, Gilbert is working on a number of feature projects. Prior to his focus on filmmaking, he was known for his acting career, particularly for his role as Scorpius Malfoy in the epilogue of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.

Gilbert has also starred in three series of the BBC's critically acclaimed series Horrible Histories and a BBC adaptation of Macbeth, alongside Patrick Stewart. He currently resides with his girlfriend in London.
