Blair, a renowned composer with over 15 years of experience, has created an impressive array of scores for various mediums, including film, theatre, and television. His extensive client list boasts esteemed institutions such as The English National Ballet, The Royal Shakespeare Company, BBC, SKY, and ITV.
Throughout his illustrious career, Blair has received numerous accolades and nominations, solidifying his position as a highly sought-after composer. His work includes Class, an 8-part Doctor Who spin-off for The BBC, as well as ITV's international hit show McDonald & Dodds and SKY's The Amazing Mr Blunden.
Blair's collaboration with Russell T Davies on the drama Nolly, starring Helena Bonham Carter, earned him a BAFTA nomination and the prestigious Camille Award for Best TV Score. This partnership also led to the creation of Men Up, a BBC film executive-produced by Russell, which premiered in December 2023.
In addition to his film and television work, Blair has also composed scores for various television shows, including After The Flood, a six-part thriller that aired to great success on ITV1/Britbox in early 2024. His work on Doctor Jekyll, a new Hammer Horror film starring Eddie Izzard, was released worldwide in 2024 and received a nomination for Best Feature Film Score in the Music & Sound Awards 2024.
Blair's classical training began at an early age, and he went on to earn a BA (Hons) in Music from Durham University and an MA in Composition for Film and Television from Bristol University. His talent was recognized with nominations for both a Creative Scotland and BAFTA Scotland Award for Best New Talent in the Scottish arts in 2012.
As a musical arranger, Blair has worked on notable projects such as Doctor Who and David Attenborough's Life Story. He is a full voting member of BAFTA and frequently judges awards such as The Ivors and BIFAs.
