Bradley John Welsh, a multifaceted individual, held the esteemed title of 1993 British ABA lightweight boxing champion, while also pursuing a career in business and occasionally venturing into the world of acting. He is perhaps most notable for his portrayal of Mr. Doyle in the 2017 film T2 Trainspotting, a role that drew parallels to his own life experiences.
In the 1980s, Welsh was affiliated with the Hibs Casual football hooligan group, and he was involved in orchestrating organized smash and grab robberies on department stores. Subsequently, he transitioned into organizing security for numerous Edinburgh clubs, a venture that spanned several years.
However, Welsh's life took a tumultuous turn when he was imprisoned for a period of four years for extorting money from estate agents. Following his release, he devoted his efforts to charitable endeavors in Edinburgh, focusing on initiatives aimed at assisting young people in avoiding a life of crime through his Holyrood Boxing Gym.
Tragically, Welsh's life was cut short when he was fatally shot outside his home in Chester Street, Edinburgh, on the evening of April 17th, at the age of forty-eight. The attack was deemed isolated, leaving behind a sense of shock and sadness in the community.
