Brady Permenter's acting journey began at the tender age of nine with the filming of James Franco's "As I Lay Dying" in 2012. This inaugural project allowed him to bring Vardaman Bundren and the iconic Faulkner line "My Mother is a fish" to life on the silver screen. The film's official selection at the Cannes Film Festival in 2013 was followed by a nomination for the Un Certain Regard Award, and in 2014, it won dual Chlotrudis Awards for Best Performance by an Ensemble Cast and Best Adapted Screenplay.
In 2013, Brady reunited with James Franco in "The Sound and The Fury", where he portrayed the young Quentin Compson. This role allowed him to delve into the complexities of family burdens and internal struggles, bringing a new level of depth to his acting abilities.
The following year, Brady collaborated with writer/director Gabrielle Robertson on the short film "The Gift", which tells the story of a boy's eleventh birthday gift that changes the world. This narrative has garnered numerous accolades and continues to receive widespread recognition globally. Brady's performance earned him the Young Talent - Best Actor Award at the Global Shorts Film Awards and Acting Honorable Mention at the Tupelo Film Festival.
Brady's role as Ben on WGN's "Underground" has been one of his most fulfilling projects to date. His passion for history drew him to this period role, and once he received the first script, he was captivated by the story. He enjoyed Ben's perspective and character arc in this historically accurate yet modern tale, and felt privileged to work with the talented writers, directors, and crew.
Throughout his career, Brady has also participated in theatre and commercials, showcasing his versatility as an actor.
In addition to his acting pursuits, Brady attends public school in Mississippi and is actively involved in academics, arts, and sports. As a member of the Gifted Program, he competes in the Future Problem Solvers Program International and Science Olympiad, where his team won Overall State three consecutive years (2016, 2017, 2018). He has also been recognized as a grand level Duke Tip Scholar and is a member of the varsity archery team.
While academics remain a top priority in Brady's life, his long-term goal is to continue his acting career. He believes that keeping his mind sharp and acquiring new skills will enable him to achieve his dream.
