Branford Marsalis, the eldest offspring of the illustrious "first family of jazz", burst into the world on August 26, 1960, marking the arrival of a talented saxophonist and an outspoken champion of artistic rebellion. Throughout his illustrious career, Marsalis has had the privilege of collaborating with a diverse array of musical luminaries, including the likes of Herbie Hancock, Art Blakey, Terence Blanchard, Sting, Guru, Miles Davis, and his own brother, the renowned Wynton Marsalis.
Prior to his departure, Marsalis held the esteemed position of bandleader for "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" for nearly three years, a stint that ultimately came to an end as he made the bold decision to leave the world of television and return to his true passion: jazz music.
