Brenda Currin's life journey began in North Carolina, where her passion for the performing arts was kindled. As an OBIE Award-winning actress, she first gained recognition for her portrayal of Nancy Clutter in the critically acclaimed film, In Cold Blood. Her subsequent roles in The World According to Garp, alongside the talented Robin Williams, and appearances in Taps, Reds, and the cult classic C.H.U.D., further solidified her reputation as a versatile and accomplished actress.
Throughout her adult life, Brenda was deeply involved in the New York theater scene, both on and Off Broadway. Her impressive range and dedication earned her widespread acclaim, particularly for her one-person show, "Sister and Miss Lexie", which was based on the works of renowned author Eudora Welty. This powerful performance premiered in New York and went on to tour extensively throughout the United States and Europe.
In addition to her impressive stage career, Brenda co-founded What Girls Know, a groundbreaking theater program designed to promote the healthy development of adolescent girls. As the program's director, she brought her vision to life in New York City and other parts of the country, eventually establishing a permanent home for What Girls Know in New Orleans.
In recent years, Brenda has continued to captivate audiences through her film and television appearances. Some of her notable recent roles include Gossamer Folds, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, Out of Blue, Claws, and the upcoming film, Daughter of the Bride.
