She embarked on a screenwriting course in 1991, driven by a sense of curiosity, and before long, she discovered herself thoroughly engrossed in the art of filmmaking. Prior to this, she had earned her undergraduate degree from Spelman College, a prestigious institution located in the vibrant city of Atlanta, Georgia, in the year 1982. Today, she holds the esteemed position of Associate Professor of English at the City University of New York's Baruch College, where she dedicates her time and expertise to teaching a range of courses, including TV and Film Writing, Journalism, and Fiction Writing.
