Brooks Darnell, a talented actor, was born on July 26th, as the eldest of three sons. His father, in a nod to his passion for baseball, named him after the legendary Brooks Robinson. From a young age, Brooks aspired to be an actor, and his mother played a significant role in nurturing his talent.
She encouraged him to develop his skills through reciting monologues and dancing to the hits of Michael Jackson and MC Hammer. This early start in performance laid the foundation for his future success. At the age of sixteen, Brooks was scouted at a local fair and soon signed with a talent agency.
He tested his skills at the prestigious IMTA talent showcase in New York City, where he placed third out of over four hundred monologue contestants. This achievement earned him an invitation to study at the renowned Conservatory theater school in San Francisco.
However, Brooks decided to put his acting career on hold to pursue his education as a pre-med student on a football scholarship. Although he had a successful two-year stint, a sports injury brought his athletic career to an abrupt end.
This unexpected turn of events presented Brooks with an opportunity to rekindle his passion for acting. In 2001, he signed with BMG Models in Chicago, becoming the first African American male client to join their roster.
Brooks then relocated to Toronto, where he honed his craft by studying under the guidance of respected acting coaches such as Larry Moss and David Rotenberg.
Currently residing in West Hollywood, Brooks continues to work towards establishing himself as a bankable name in the entertainment industry. His recent role as "Stevens" in the highly anticipated summer blockbuster Total Recall has put him well on the path to achieving this goal.
