Born and raised in the picturesque Okanagan Valley, a region steeped in natural beauty and rich cultural heritage, the Irish/English Bruce emerged as a talented individual with a strong sense of identity and purpose. Shortly after high school graduation, he bid farewell to his hometown of Kelowna and embarked on a journey to attend Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, a prestigious institution renowned for its academic excellence and diverse range of programs.
At SFU, Bruce immersed himself in a wide range of subjects, showcasing his intellectual curiosity and passion for learning. His academic pursuits spanned a variety of disciplines, including film noir, world literature, Greek mythology, art history, stage design and direction, and even pop culture. His academic achievements were impressive, and he eventually received his Bachelor of Arts Degree with Honors, a testament to his dedication and hard work.
However, Bruce's post-graduation plans were not without their challenges. He struggled to decide between pursuing a career in writing or acting, two passions that had been burning within him for some time. Ultimately, he opted for a path that would allow him to explore both creative outlets, and has since remained active in both fields. His impressive portfolio includes feature film scripts and pilots for television, a testament to his versatility and talent.
A true cinephile and television enthusiast, Bruce's love for movies and TV shows dates back to his early days as an usher at Kelowna's historic Paramount Theatre. His parents, who were early adopters of cable television, instilled in him a deep appreciation for the medium and its ability to entertain, educate, and inspire. As a result, Bruce feels at home in front of the camera, behind it, and as a fan of the industry, always eager to learn more and stay up-to-date with the latest developments.
