Bruce Jones is a renowned British actor, with a storied career spanning over six decades. His journey began after completing National Service, where he was attached to 656 Squadron in Malaya. Following his military stint, Bruce trained at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA).
In his early twenties, he joined the esteemed Old Vic theatre company, where he had the privilege of sharing the stage with the legendary Vivien Leigh. Over the course of his illustrious career, Bruce has appeared in an impressive 200+ TV productions. However, it is his iconic five-year run in the beloved BBC sitcom Butterflies (1978) that has cemented his status as a household name. Playing the role of Leonard, the would-be lover of Wendy Craig, Bruce's performance remains a fan favorite to this day.
More recently, Bruce has made a triumphant return to the world of theatre, starring in musicals such as Fiddler on the Roof alongside Topol at the Palladium, Oliver (as Mr. Brownlow, a role he held for three years at the Palladium),and Phantom of the Opera (two years at Her Majesty's). His most recent TV appearance was as a guest star in New Tricks, reuniting him with his longtime collaborator, Wendy Craig.
In addition to his extensive work in television and theatre, Bruce has also made a name for himself as an author. His books include the humorous Catch That Tiger, Wedding Bells & Chimney Sweeps, and Birds, Bees & Educated Fleas, as well as The Book of Shakespearian Useless Information, which features a foreword by the esteemed Tim Rice.
A proud resident of Hove, Bruce has been married to his beloved wife, actress and author Barbara Latham, for an impressive 60 years. Their son, Sam, is a skilled director of photography, having worked on popular television shows such as Great British Bake Off, Taskmaster, and Travelman.
