Caetano Gotardo, a multifaceted creative force, was born in Brazil and went on to study cinema at the prestigious University of São Paulo. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a remarkable aptitude for filmmaking, having directed numerous award-winning short films, including the critically acclaimed "Sand", which made its debut at the esteemed Cannes Critics' Week.
His feature film directorial debut, "The Moving Creatures", and his sophomore effort, "Your Bones and Your Eyes", both received widespread critical acclaim after premiering at various international film festivals. These projects showcase Gotardo's keen interest in exploring the intricacies of character development through language and movement.
As a member of the collective Filmes do Caixote, a group of Brazilian filmmakers who have collaborated since film school, Gotardo has been involved in various projects. Notably, he has edited both feature films by Marco Dutra and Juliana Rojas, including "Good Manners" and "Hard Labor". Additionally, he has contributed to the writing of multiple projects, including Dutra's "The Silence of the Sky" and "Bury Your Dead".
Gotardo's subsequent features, "All the Dead Ones" and "You Burn Us", further solidified his reputation as a talented and innovative filmmaker. His most recent collaboration with Dutra, "A Moving Mountain", marked the first co-direction between the two, and they also co-created and directed the TV series "Noturnos".
Currently, Gotardo is working on the production of his sixth feature, "The Gentle Ghosts", a testament to his continued creative endeavors and dedication to his craft.
