He spent three years honing his craft at the esteemed institution, after which he relocated to Los Angeles to further his training at the Stella Adler Academy in Hollywood. Upon completing his studies, Cameron returned to his native New Zealand, where he began working on local television and film productions. He landed a core cast role in the popular hospital drama "Shortland Street" and appeared in two local drama TV movies.
