Biography

Carol Decker, the gifted lead vocalist and visionary founder of the renowned pop/rock band T'Pau, came together with guitarist and co-songwriting partner Ron Rogers in 1986 to forge a musical entity that would captivate audiences worldwide. The fruit of their creative endeavors was the release of their debut album, "Bridge of Spies", in 1987, which would go on to achieve unparalleled commercial success. This groundbreaking album, which showcased the band's unique blend of melodic hooks and driving rhythms, spawned an impressive six hit singles, including the chart-topping, iconic single "China In Your Hand". This monumental success did not go unnoticed, as the album went on to sell an astonishing 1.2 million copies in the UK alone, earning the prestigious quadruple platinum status.

After their initial triumph, the British pop-rock band T'Pau went on to release two additional albums, "Rage" and "The Promise", before eventually disbanding in the year 1991.

During this time, Carol Decker, the lead vocalist and driving force behind the group, decided to take a temporary hiatus from the music industry, limiting her public appearances to occasional guest spots on other artists' albums.

It was around 1993 that Carol's path crossed with that of her future spouse, Richard Coates, marking the beginning of a new chapter in her life.

In the year 1997, Carol embarked upon a pivotal decision, opting to revive the esteemed British pop rock band T'Pau with a brand new lineup, comprising a diverse range of talented musicians. Following this bold move, the revitalized group launched into a highly anticipated summer tour, which was greeted with a resoundingly positive response from fans and critics alike.

As the tour drew to a close, the band shifted their focus to the creation of a fresh album, with the collective energy and momentum from their live performances serving as a potent catalyst for their creative endeavors. Meanwhile, in June of the following year, 1998, Carol welcomed the arrival of her first child, a life-changing event that would undoubtedly have a profound impact on her personal and professional life.

However, in a testament to her remarkable resilience and dedication to her craft, Carol made a truly remarkable comeback, returning to the stage just three short weeks after giving birth to perform at the prestigious Princess Diana Tribute Concert, a truly unforgettable experience that would be etched in the memories of all who attended.

T'Pau, a renowned musical entity, unveiled their most recent album, aptly titled "Red", in the month of September, during the year 1998. This notable release was made possible through the partnership between the band and Carol's own record label, a venture known as Gnatfish. Following the launch of "Red", T'Pau has continued to uphold a consistent touring routine, with Carol, an integral member of the group, sharing the stage with the other talented musicians.

Carol's life took a devastating turn in the year 2001, as she was met with the heartbreaking news of a miscarriage, a traumatic event that would have a profound impact on her life.

Despite this setback, Carol's determination and resilience ultimately led her to become pregnant once more, only to be confronted with a new set of challenges as complications arose during her third trimester.

As the due date approached, Carol's situation became increasingly precarious, necessitating an emergency caesarian section in August 2002.

This high-stakes procedure ultimately resulted in the safe delivery of her second child, a moment of joy tempered by the fact that Carol required a total of four blood transfusions to recover from the ordeal.

Carol has recently taken to the stage, gracing audiences with her presence on the "Here & Now" 80s revival tour, a thrilling spectacle that has undoubtedly left a lasting impression on all who have been fortunate enough to witness it.

Additionally, T'Pau's inaugural official live album was proudly released on December 20, 2003, a milestone moment in the band's illustrious career that has undoubtedly been cherished by fans and music enthusiasts alike.
