Carola Häggkvist, a renowned Swedish singer, was born on September 8, 1966, outside Stockholm, Sweden, to parents Jan and Anita Häggkvist.
At the tender age of 16, Carola represented Sweden in the prestigious Eurovision Song Contest in 1983, belting out her breakthrough single "Främling" (Holm/Forsberg),and impressively securing a third-place finish behind Luxembourg and Israel.
Her debut album "Främling" (Mariann Music 1983) went on to sell an astonishing 1,000,000 copies, cementing its status as the most sold album in Swedish history. The subsequent summer tour of 1983 shattered box office records at nearly every stop across Sweden.
Fast-forward to 1986, Carola released her album "Runaway" (Polydor International),penned and produced by the legendary Bee Gees, and distributed throughout Europe.
In 1995, Carola made her acting debut on the Stockholm stage in the iconic production of "The Sound of Music", earning her the esteemed Swedish Guldmasken Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical/Comedy in 1996.
Carola then lent her voice to the character of Miriam, Moses' sister, in the 1998 animated film "Prinsen Av Egypten" (The Prince of Egypt / Dreamworks).
In 2000, Carola took on the role of herself in the film "Livet är en Schlager" (Sonet Film 2000),written by Jonas Gardell and directed by Danish filmmaker Susanne Bier.
