Carolyn was born in Auckland, New Zealand, and began her performing career at the tender age of 10. Prior to her acting endeavors, she showcased her vocal talents, singing with Suzanne Prentice at a World Vision "Kids for Kids" Concert. This initial exposure led to a solo performance in front of hundreds of school children and their parents at the annual regional school choir festival, where she even caught the attention of the Mayor.
Encouraged by her teachers, Carolyn began studying classical singing, theory, and piano with the renowned soprano, Gina Sanders. Her beautiful tone and impressive skills earned her multiple awards and commendations in regional competitions.
As her passion for drama grew, Carolyn transitioned into acting, drawing from her experience singing in front of audiences. Her first performance was in the school production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" by William Shakespeare, where she played a fairy with a spirited exchange with Puck in Act 2.
Carolyn's subsequent roles included "the horrible adenoidal daughter", Elsie, in Noel Coward's "Fumed Oak", and she later joined drama school and the local theater club. Her first professional role was in the American TV production "Fatal contact - Bird Flu in America" as the daughter of a businessman who contracted bird flu in China, unwittingly causing an outbreak of the virus in America.
She has also appeared in Walt Disney's "Legend of the Seeker" 2009 season in "Fury" as Veta, one of the Minders, a tribe of healers who refused to fight for their own rights and were under an ancient spell cast to control anger and lust. Carolyn's character, Veta, was linked to the Seeker (Richard) and Minders, as an evil side of Richard emerged as he trained some of them, including Veta, to defend themselves.
Her most notable role to date is in Peter Jackson's "The Lovely Bones", where she played Ruth Connors, a slightly unconventional character who was into art and in touch with the supernatural. In 2010, Carolyn appeared in "Shortland Street" as Penny, who took a job as an orderly while plotting to poison Scotty to avenge the death of her father, killed in action when she was just a child.
