Caryn Waechter, a multifaceted creative force, hails from California and was reared in Europe. Now based in both New York City and Los Angeles, she has established herself as a talented director and photographer. Her academic background is steeped in the world of film, having graduated from Columbia University's esteemed MFA program with a concentration in Directing.
Prior to her career in film, Waechter was classically trained as a dancer, a discipline she likens to the choreography of images in her work. Her thesis film, GOD IS GOOD, has garnered an impressive array of accolades, including the New Line Cinema Award for Best Director, Columbia University Faculty Selects, the Kodak Film Grant, and top honors at the IFP Market and the Chinese-American Film Festival.
Waechter's impressive credentials continue with her contributions to Ridley Scott and Kevin Macdonald's YouTube documentary, LIFE IN A DAY. From a staggering 80,000 submissions and 4,500 hours of footage, her unique perspective was selected for inclusion in the final product. The film premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, a testament to Waechter's exceptional talent.
Her directorial debut feature film, THE SISTERHOOD OF NIGHT, made its world premiere at the 2014 Woodstock Film Festival, where she was awarded the Best Female Director Award by Tangerine Entertainment.
