Cnary's theater credits include numerous roles, with a notable win for "Outstanding Featured Actress" at the 2014 Conn Critics Circle award for her portrayal of Sonia in Hartford Stage's production of "Vanya & Sonia & Masha & Spike". She has also starred on Broadway and in national tours, including "Crimes Of The Hearts" and "Dancing At Lughnasa".
Her favorite regional theater credits include lead roles in "The Clean House", "State of the Union", "Toys In The Attic", "Fool For Love", "Faith Healer", "Moon For The Misbegotten", "Road To Mecca", "Gardenia", "Fallen Angels", "Three Sisters", "Othello", and "Twelfth Night".
Caryn was a participant in the American Film Institute's Directing Workshop for Women, where she wrote and directed the short film "Here Dies Another Day", which won several awards and was selected for numerous film festivals.
She has also directed theater for various companies and has taught acting at several institutions, including California Institute of the Arts, the Lee Strasberg Institute, and USC's School of Cinematic Arts.
Caryn received her B.A. in Film/Drama from Stanford University and her M.F.A. from Temple University. She has also trained at the American Conservatory Theatre and studied with Stella Adler, Wynn Handman, Alfred Molina, and Alan Langdon.
In her personal life, Caryn was a military brat and used to be a competitive skier and steer roper. She is now devoted to social justice, Argentine salon tango, tennis, fitness, and her rescue animals.
