Casey Niccoli is an American artist, music video, and film director, renowned for her creative contributions to Jane's Addiction, particularly as the muse and girlfriend of the band's frontman, Perry Farrell.
Born and raised in Bakersfield, California, Niccoli attended Highland High School before moving to Los Angeles at the age of 18. A year later, she met Farrell at a benefit concert, where his band Psi Com was performing.
Throughout her relationship with Farrell, Niccoli significantly impacted the band's aesthetic, creating sculptures and contributing to their early onstage visual style, which incorporated Catholic and Santerían imagery. Her influence is evident on the album covers of Nothing's Shocking (1988) and Ritual de lo Habitual (1990),both featuring sculptures created by Niccoli and Farrell, with Niccoli serving as the model.
Niccoli's work extends beyond Jane's Addiction, as she has directed music videos for various acts, including Gumball, Masters of Reality, Black Market Flowers, and Rage Against the Machine. Her video for Masters of Reality features Ginger Baker on drums and a young Jennifer Lopez as a dancer.
In addition to her music video work, Niccoli co-directed the 1993 experimental docudrama Gift with Farrell, which showcases the band members during the recording sessions of Ritual de lo Habitual. She has also directed music videos for Jane's Addiction, including Classic Girl, Stop, and Mountain Song.
Niccoli's extensive experience in live music productions includes directing performances for Ice-T and Bodycount, Souxsie and the Banshees, Henry Rollins and Rollins Band, Butthole Surfers, Rage Against the Machine, and Violent Femmes.
In 2021, Niccoli returned to school to further her studies in filmmaking, working on documentaries, short films, and music video projects that are set to be released at a later date.
