She eventually landed a role as an assistant editor at Country Living in 1995, where she rose through the ranks to become the Head of Shows.
In this capacity, Gee played a pivotal role in organizing various events, including the Country Living Fairs, which led to her involvement in the magazine's first matchmaking campaign for farmers, The Farmer Wants a Wife, in 1999. This initiative was televised by Thames TV and earned her a BAFTA nomination in 2002.
