Catherine Meyburgh is a multifaceted filmmaker with a diverse range of expertise, exceling as a director, editor, and producer in both documentary and fiction films, as well as television productions.
Her impressive portfolio includes work in multi-projection design, which has been showcased at esteemed institutions such as the Metropolitan Opera in New York and La Scala in Milano, among many others.
Throughout her career, Meyburgh has edited over thirty documentaries that have been broadcast on prominent networks including Arte, Channel 4, BBC - Storyville, ZDF, SABC, NBC, as well as being featured at various film festivals, including IDFA, DIFF, and the Berlinale.
In addition to her work in documentary filmmaking, Meyburgh has also created video installations that have been exhibited at numerous galleries, museums, and events, including the prestigious dOKUMENTA, WAM, Iziko Cape Town, and the Smithsonian.
Recently, Meyburgh collaborated with renowned artists William Kentridge, Thuthuka Sibisi, and Philip Miller on the innovative multi-projection performance piece "The Head & the Load," which sheds light on the often-overlooked history of African involvement in World War I. The piece premiered at the Tate Modern in London and will be showcased at The Armory in New York later in 2018.
Meyburgh is also the co-director of the documentary "Dying for Gold," a film that delves into the legacy of illness, death, and inequality resulting from gold mining and migrant labor.
