Biography

Cecil Scaife, a multifaceted American actor and record executive, embarked on a remarkable journey that spanned several decades. His academic pursuits began at the University of Arkansas, where he laid the foundation for his future endeavors. He then took his skills to Texas Christian University for graduate studies.

As he transitioned from academia to the entertainment industry, Scaife's career in music began to take shape. He started working at KFFA Radio in Arkansas, laying the groundwork for his future success. His work at Hi Records in Memphis caught the attention of the legendary Sam Phillips, who would play a pivotal role in his career.

Phillips offered Scaife a job as the first National Sales and Promotion Manager for Sun Records in Memphis, a position he took in the fall of 1958. Not long after, Phillips asked Scaife to manage WLIZ, an "all-girls" radio station in Palm Beach, where all the DJs were women. Although the job did not last, it was a valuable experience.

In 1961, Scaife relocated to Nashville to help Sam Phillips establish a studio in the city. The following year, he founded the gospel label Songs of Faith, which he later sold to focus on his work at Columbia Records as an account executive.

After a stint at Columbia, Scaife left the company in April 1972 to pursue his own entrepreneurial ventures. In 1974, he founded the independent record label Music Incorporated and reacquired Songs of Faith from Bill Beasley.

Throughout his illustrious career, Scaife worked tirelessly in the Nashville music industry, leaving a lasting impact on the music world. He eventually retired in 1998, bringing a close to his remarkable journey.
