Özçelik, a talented individual born in 1980 in Turkey, pursued a law degree at Marmara University in Istanbul, but ultimately did not practice law. Instead, she ventured into the world of media, working as a text writer for TV channels and as a DJ for a radio station.
Her passion for the arts led her to produce, write, and host a TV show on cinema called "En Heyecanlı Yeri," which enjoyed a successful run of nearly a decade. Furthermore, she produced and wrote four other culture-art TV programs, showcasing her versatility and dedication to the field.
In addition to her television work, Özçelik has written film reviews for both online and print media for an impressive fourteen years. Her written work has been published in various forms, including a book of interviews and media memoirs titled "Dikkat Çekim Var!", which was released in 2013.
During her time from 2005 to 2011, Özçelik honed her skills as an editor, working on behind-the-scenes footage, cinema award videos, production company trailers, and documentaries. Her short films have been showcased at numerous festivals, including the Bratislava Art Festival and Festroia.
Özçelik's feature film debut, KAYGI/INFLAME, a thought-provoking thriller that explores the themes of memory and mass media, made its world premiere at the 67th Berlinale Panorama and went on to win the Luna Gamechanger Award at South by Southwest (SXSW). The film has screened at over 30 festivals worldwide.
Currently, Özçelik is developing her second feature, 18+, a dark comedy that sheds light on the complex issues of women and violence. The project has received recognition, including being selected for the Meetings On The Bridge program and winning the Visual Effects Award in 2017. Moreover, Özçelik has been appointed as an artist-in-residence for 2018 by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, further solidifying her position as a respected figure in the film industry.
