Biography

Chantal Kreviazuk is a renowned Canadian singer-songwriter from Winnipeg, Manitoba, who began playing piano by ear at the tender age of three.

However, it wasn't until 1994, during a life-changing trip to Italy, that Chantal was involved in a motorcycle accident, which prompted her to take her musical talents seriously.

In 1996, she was finally signed to Sony Canada and released her debut album, "Under These Rocks and Stones", which spawned the hit singles "Surrounded", "Wayne", and "Believer".

The album's success propelled Chantal to stardom, and in 1998, she recorded a cover of John Denver's classic hit "Leaving on a Jetplane" for the Armageddon movie soundtrack, which went double platinum.

With her rising fame, Chantal released her sophomore album "Colour Moving and Still" in 1999, featuring the hit singles "Before You" and "Feels Like Home", the latter of which has become one of her most iconic love songs.

After tying the knot with Our Lady Peace frontman Raine Maida, Chantal took a hiatus from music to focus on her family, which includes three sons.

She returned to the music scene in 2002 with her third album, "What If It All Means Something", which included the hit single "In This Life", and has since released four more albums, including "Ghost Stories", "Since We Met: The Best of 1996-2006", "Plain Jane", and the 2012 live album "In This Life".

Throughout her career, Chantal has written numerous hits for other artists, including Kelly Clarkson, Drake, Gwen Stefani, Pitbull & Christina Aguilera, Avril Lavigne, Shakira, Josh Groban, and Carrie Underwood.

In 2014, she collaborated with Kendrick Lamar and Jay Rock on the song "Pay For It", which was performed on Saturday Night Live, and her written song "Wasted Love" for NBC The Voice's Matt McAndrew reached #1 on iTunes.

Chantal has also been recognized for her charity work, particularly with War Child Canada, and alongside her husband Raine Maida, won the prestigious "Allan Waters Humanitarian Award" at the 2014 Juno Awards.

MTV has hailed Chantal and Raine as "one of Canada's most influential cultural couples" and "Canadian royalty", and in 2015, she released a new single, "I Will Be", in partnership with Kids Help Phone, which speaks to her desire to help those who feel alone and isolated.
