Biography

Charles Pieper is a multifaceted creative force based in Los Angeles, boasting a diverse range of skills as a writer and director. Throughout his career, he has successfully helmed numerous short films, with his feature screenplays garnering significant attention, including the Shudder original splatter comedy 'Destroy all Neighbors'.

Pieper's background is deeply rooted in animation, specifically stop motion, although he has transitioned to live-action production and continues to work in this realm.

One of his most notable short films is 'Malacostraca', which has had an impressive festival run, premiering at over 30 international film festivals, including prominent horror festivals such as Overlook, Beyond Fest, and Motel X. The film was initially showcased online at Director's Notes and then ALTER.

Furthermore, the feature-length screenplay adaptation of 'Malacostraca' was a semi-finalist in the 2021 Austin Film Festival's horror category.

In addition to his work in live-action, Pieper has recently ventured back into the world of stop motion animation, producing the short film 'Everybody Goes to the Hospital', which made its way through the 2022 festival circuit.
