New Haven, Connecticut resident Charles Rosenay is a man of many talents and passions. He is an entertainer, MC/DJ, producer, actor, impresario, tour organizer, promoter, and haunted house operator. Born and raised in the Bronx, he moved to New Haven with his family when he was ten years old.
Rosenay's love for music and performance began at a young age. His mother, Rose, was a real New Yorker with a larger-than-life personality and played piano by ear. His father, Harry, was from Brooklyn, and Charles took accordion lessons and classical guitar growing up, although he eventually abandoned both.
However, Rosenay always loved to sing and even portrayed Davy Jones in a tribute band, MonkeeMania, where he was spot-on with the tambourine and maracas. He also had the opportunity to meet and interview many Fab Four insiders, including Pete Best, Cynthia Lennon, Mike McCartney, John's sister Julia Baird, Billy J. Kramer, Tony Sheridan, Horst Fascher, Allan Williams, Sam Leach, Joey Molland, Alistair Taylor, Alf Bicknell, Norm Rossington, and Gordon Millings.
In the late '70's, Rosenay heard about a Beatles convention presented by Joe Pope, a pioneer who produced the first Beatles fan convention in America at Boston's Bradford Hotel. This sparked his interest in producing his own Beatles convention in Connecticut, which he did in 1978, while still in high school. He also started publishing his own fanzine, "Good Day Sunshine," in 1980, which became one of the most-read Beatle mags in the world.
Rosenay's success in producing conventions and publishing his fanzine led to invitations to host conventions in other parts of the U.S. and overseas. He also started his own "Magical History Tour" of Liverpool, which allowed him to meet and interview many Fab Four insiders. He has been honored by official ceremonies from Lord Mayors of Liverpool, acknowledging him as an "Unofficial Ambassador To Liverpool."
In addition to his work with the Beatles, Rosenay is also a dedicated father to his three children, Lauren, Harrison, and Ian, and has been a professional DJ/MC/Entertainer in CT for four decades. He continues to produce conventions, tours, and promotions, and is always looking for new adventures and opportunities.
