Charlie Gruet has had a diverse and extensive career as a Cinematographer and Director in New York, Los Angeles, and abroad, spanning over two decades.
As a Cinematographer, Charlie has worked on a wide range of projects, including Documentaries, Scripted Features/Television, and Commercials, which has given him a unique visual style that blends eye-catching imagery with intimate and emotional content.
Charlie's experience in comedy has been shaped by working alongside some of the great comedians and actors of our time, and he has also served as the Film Unit Director of Photography on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE for Seasons 42 & 43.
He has collaborated with numerous directors and producers on various projects, including BIG BROTHER VOLCANO, THE OTHER TWO, TELL ME LIES, and HIGH MAINTENANCE, among others.
Charlie has also written and directed three short films for FREAKONOMICS RADIO, which are a hybrid between documentary and fiction.
As a Director of Photography, Charlie has worked on a number of feature films, including MOST LIKELY TO MURDER and CONFESSIONS OF A SUPERHERO, which premiered at South by Southwest and the AFI Film Festival.
Charlie has also produced and directed several documentary films, including MEET THE HITLERS, which is currently airing on SHOWTIME, and THE SELF MADE MAN, which was part of the PBS program P.O.V. and was nominated for two EMMY AWARDS.
Charlie is a member of the International Cinematographers Guild, Local 600 and the Directors Guild of America, and lives in New Jersey with his wife and two children.
