Charlotte Hope was born on October 15, 1991, in Salisbury, England. Her father, a former jockey, worked as a barrister, while her mother, who previously worked in public relations, became a housewife. At the age of 18, Hope pursued higher education at Oxford University, where she studied French and Spanish, and actively participated in various university theatre productions.
During her time at Oxford, Hope attended an open casting call for a French film titled Serge Gainsbourg: Vie Heroique, where she auditioned for the role of Jane Birkin. Although she did not secure the part, this experience motivated her to pursue a career in acting. Hope then began sending letters to numerous agents, inviting them to attend her university plays. One agent responded, and she subsequently signed with them, marking the beginning of her professional acting career.
Hope's early roles included small parts in British television and film productions, such as The Theory of Everything (2014),Les Misérables (2012),and The Invisible Woman (2013),as well as appearances in medical procedural dramas like Holby City (1999),Casualty (1986),and Doctors (2000).
In 2013, Hope landed the role of Myranda, the sadistic lover of Ramsay Bolton, in the popular HBO series Game of Thrones. Initially intended to appear in a single episode, her character's storyline was extended over three seasons. Throughout her career, Hope has also had a strong presence in theatre, collaborating with renowned directors such as Scott Elliott, Ed Harris, and Rupert Goold. Some of her notable theatre credits include Buried Child, Good for Otto, Midsummer Night's Dream, and Albion.
In 2016, Hope appeared in the British films A United Kingdom and Allied. The following year, she starred alongside Richard Gere in Jon Avnet's Three Christs and co-starred in the horror film The Nun, playing the role of Sister Victoria.
In 2018, Hope was cast as Catherine of Aragon in the Starz/New Pictures series The Spanish Princess, a follow-up to the popular shows The White Princess and The White Queen. She currently resides in South London with her partners, Ria Zmitrowicz and Philippa Coulthard.
