Chen Tang, a talented and versatile actor, has been praised by critics and audiences alike for his chameleon-like abilities on film and stage. Born in Kobe, Japan, and spending most of his childhood in Guangxi, China, Chen's international background has instilled in him a lifelong love and curiosity for different cultures, people, and experiences.
Chen's family later immigrated to Memphis, Tennessee, where he adopted a natural southern accent while learning English. As a Chinese Citizen and US Permanent Resident, fluent in both Mandarin and English, Chen bridges the gap between two strikingly different cultures.
His passion for acting stems from the opportunity to be truthful, vulnerable, and portray wildly different human experiences. Drawing on his international background, Chen strives to be an actor whose purpose is to portray human stories that connect the East to the West.
With a long list of credits to his name, including roles in "Grey's Anatomy," Amazon's "Bosch," and ABC's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D," Chen has built an impressive resume in regional theater, television, and commercials. He has also starred in Walt Disney Studio's live-action "Mulan" as the supporting lead role of 'Yao.'
Currently, Chen can be seen reprising his series regular role in the Netflix/MAX series "Warrior," set during the Tong Wars in the late 1800s and based on Bruce Lee's original writings. The series follows a martial arts prodigy who becomes a hatchet man for the most powerful gang in Chinatown, San Francisco.
In addition to his acting career, Chen has supported the Cambodian Children's Fund, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and the World Wildlife Fund for numerous years. He also lends his voice to the preservation of nature, wildlife, and the world's oceans.
