Biography

Cheri's formative years were characterized by a distinct lack of the customary pomp and circumstance often associated with a traditional high school graduation ceremony, a milestone that typically serves as a defining moment in the life of many adolescents. However, this setback did not deter her from charting a unique course, as she instead chose to enlist in the United States Coast Guard, where she would go on to excel in two particularly demanding fields: Search and Rescue and Law Enforcement. Throughout her time in the Coast Guard, she adhered to the organization's unofficial motto, "If it moves, grease it. If it doesn't move, paint it," a mantra that reflects her resourceful and adaptable nature.

Following her honorable discharge from the Coast Guard, Cheri relocated to the entertainment capital of the world, Hollywood, with the goal of pursuing a career in the high-energy world of Rock and Roll. Although her band did not ultimately achieve mainstream success, they did have the opportunity to share the stage with a diverse range of prominent acts, including T.S.O.L., Guns and Roses, L7, LA Guns, Jane's Addiction, X, Hole, Descendants, and many others. In addition to her work with her band, Cheri also contributed to the local music publication LA Rock Review, a testament to her passion for the music industry and her willingness to take on new challenges.

As Cheri's music career began to wane, she embarked on a new creative journey, one that would ultimately lead her to discover her true calling. This transformative period was precipitated by a visit with the renowned psychic Sylvia Brown, whose guidance proved pivotal in shaping Cheri's future endeavors.

Inspired by her own experiences, Cheri penned the semi-autobiographical play Prey for Rock and Roll, which premiered at the iconic punk club CBGB, with Cheri herself taking on the lead role of Jacki. The play's success was followed by the optioning of film rights, which resulted in a cinematic adaptation starring a talented ensemble cast, including Gina Gershon, Drea DeMatteo, Lori Petty, Shelly Cole, Marc Blucas, and Ivan Martin.

The soundtrack for Prey for Rock and Roll was crafted by the accomplished Stephen Trask, known for his work on the hit musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch. The play premiered at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival in 2003, subsequently playing at major festivals around the world.

Cheri's subsequent creative endeavors, following her initial success, took the form of a mockumentary short film titled Hollywood Trash and Tinsel, which delved into the behind-the-scenes production of a feature film. This innovative work earned Cheri the prestigious Best Documentary Directorial Debut Award at the esteemed New York International Film and Video Festival in the year 2004.

As Cheri's artistic vision continued to evolve, she began work on her second feature film, The Jesus Factor, which is currently in the final stages of post-production. This thought-provoking cinematic endeavor offers an unconventional exploration of a wide range of complex and provocative themes, including Family, Sex, Gender, Religion, and Love Etiquette... or Lack Thereof.

Beyond her creative pursuits in filmmaking, Cheri is a multifaceted individual who wears many hats. One of her most notable ventures is her role as co-owner of the renowned Lovedog Tattoo Studio, a testament to her entrepreneurial spirit and passion for the arts.

In addition to her professional endeavors, Cheri is a devoted parent, dedicating herself to nurturing and guiding the next generation. When she's not behind the camera or behind the wheel, she's a high-stakes player who thrives on the fast-paced action of poker, craps, and blackjack.

Cheri's interests are as diverse as they are eclectic, ranging from the thrill of cars and motorcycles to a deep appreciation for the beauty and complexity of women. Despite her enthusiasm for these pursuits, she often finds herself in the paradoxical position of being unable to afford the very things she loves, a circumstance that serves as a poignant reminder of the ongoing struggles and sacrifices that come with pursuing one's passions.
