Christopher Sean Lowe, born on October 4th in the charming town of Blackpool, Lancashire, has had a fascinating journey. In 1959, Chris, as he was known, took up the trombone and joined a lively seven-piece dance band called One Under The Eight, playing popular hits like "Hello Dolly", "La Bamba", and "Moon River".
Fast-forward to 1978, Chris pursued his passion for architecture at Liverpool University. During his time there, he gained invaluable practical experience in a London architectural practice, designing a staircase in an industrial development in Milton Keynes. In a 1988 visit to the site, Chris humbly described the staircase as "just a functional staircase."
A serendipitous encounter in an electronics shop on the Kings Road in 1981 brought Chris and Neil together. Sharing a love for dance music, they began collaborating, initially under the name West End, later adopting the iconic moniker Pet Shop Boys, inspired by friends who worked in a pet shop in Ealing.
