Biography

Christopher Belsey is a multifaceted composer who has made a significant impact in the indie film scene in Glasgow, with a repertoire that spans scoring and producing music for a diverse range of films and documentaries.

Born with a passion for music, Christopher's journey began at the tender age of eight when he started learning the piano, which eventually led him to develop a fascination for musical notation and the art of film scoring and orchestration.

As he progressed through his education, Christopher's musical talents continued to flourish, with notable projects including the competition entry "I Am Scottish" (2009),which won the overall prize at the SQA Star Awards 2009, and the short film "Once ere Was A Boy" (2010),which garnered several awards.

After graduating with a First Class Honours in composition from Edinburgh Napier University, Christopher continued to hone his craft, working on a variety of projects, including student and promotional films, song arrangements, and even serving as the piano accompanist for a choir.

By 2015, Christopher had established himself as a frequent collaborator with the Glasgow Film Crew, a collective of filmmakers who produce micro, short, and feature-length films across a range of genres. Some notable films he has scored for the group include "The Last Equinox" (2016),"The Turtle Terminator" (2017),"The Beclowning" (2017),and "Invasion" (2018).

In addition to his work with the Glasgow Film Crew, Christopher has also been involved in various other projects, including writing, producing, and arranging songs, orchestrating scores, and scoring documentaries, with three notable documentaries being "In the Arena: Damien Murray" (2015),"Living With Disabilities in Belarus" (2015),and "Babcia Kazia" (2017).

Christopher's talents have been widely recognized, with his score for "The Turtle Terminator" (2017) earning critical praise from film critic Richard Propes, who noted: "Christopher Belsey's original music gives the film a quirky zest." Furthermore, his score alongside Ewan Manson's original song for "The Last Equinox" (2016) won the award for 'Best Soundtrack' at the DonQuest Short Film Festival 2017, and received a nomination for 'Best Music' at the 2017 Maverick Movie Awards.
