His early life was marked by a unique arrangement, dividing his time between Kansas City, Missouri, where he resided with his mother, and summers spent with his father in Corning, Iowa.
Following his parents' divorce at a tender age, Clark discovered his passion for theatre during his high school days at North Kansas City High School. This was also a period where he developed his athletic prowess, excelling in baseball and tennis. His academic achievements culminated in a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech and a major in Theatre from Northwestern University.
Clark's academic journey continued with the attainment of a Master of Fine Arts degree in acting and directing from the University of Missouri-KC. During his time at Northwestern, he was an accomplished varsity saber fencer, earning notable accolades, including qualification for the NCAA Championship, co-MVP of the team, and the May Court Outstanding Senior Athlete award.
Throughout his career, Clark has demonstrated his versatility by embarking on two national tours with The Acting Company, making his Broadway debut in Tom Stoppard's Jumpers, and serving as a company member at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey.
