Biography

Clea Iveson, a proud native of Toronto, Canada, embarked on her remarkable dance training journey at the tender age of four, marking the inception of a lifelong passion for the enchanting art form. This auspicious beginning was set in motion at Mrs. Daniels School of Dance, her hometown institution, where she first discovered the magic of dance and the joy it would bring her throughout her life.

As she continued to refine her craft, Clea's dedication and perseverance led her to further her education at the prestigious National Ballet School, where she honed her skills alongside some of the best young dancers in the country. Her training also took her to the esteemed Joan Kohal School of Dance, where she was exposed to a diverse range of dance styles and techniques, and the Lois Smith School of Dance, which provided her with a solid foundation in ballet and other classical dance forms.

Clea Iveson's academic journey at the School of Dance, now rebranded as George Brown Dance, culminated in a life-changing opportunity as she was offered an apprenticeship position with the prestigious Canada's Ballet Jörgen in 1991, marking the beginning of a remarkable 27-year-long affiliation with the esteemed organization.

Throughout her illustrious tenure, Iveson has had the distinct privilege of being a full-time dancer, making significant contributions to the creation of 55 original dance works, six full-length ballets, and four original children's ballets.

Her impressive performance record is a testament to her dedication and artistry, spanning an astonishing 190 different Canadian communities, with over 1,400 performances to her credit, a true reflection of her unwavering commitment to her craft.

Clea's remarkable career has not only been marked by her impressive achievements as a dancer, but also by her tireless commitment to the world of ballet education. For the past 16 years, she has dedicated herself to managing and cultivating the Education Programming for Canada's Ballet Jörgen, a testament to her unwavering passion for the art form.

Throughout her tenure, Clea has played a pivotal role in the development of numerous new ballets, her dedication and expertise instrumental in bringing these productions to life. Her contributions have been instrumental in shaping the creative direction of the company, solidifying her position as an integral member of the team.

As a result, Clea has become an indispensable figure within the organization, her influence extending far beyond the stage. Her unwavering commitment to the company's educational initiatives has had a profound impact on the next generation of ballet dancers, providing them with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their craft.
